Erev Shabbos Shomrim Action

A Boro-Park Shomrim member apparently playing auto-chicken with his brand new Nissan Marauder trying to cut-off a 'goy' with a Black vintage Mercedes almost got his face rearranged. After cutting each other off back and forth the Mercedes guy jumped out of his car and almost beat the heck out of the Shomrim guy, except he threw his Marauder into reverse and backed up almost two blocks on 14th av. About thirty seconds later there were Shomrim members at the scene than you could shake a stick at. Obviously this Shomrim guy doesn't go to the mikvah erev Shabbos.

It just got a bit safer to let your kids out to play

Michael Jackson was arraigned at a California courthouse today. Michael Jackson's arraignment on a grand jury indictment marks a turning point in the 5-month-old child molestation case against the singer, moving him closer to a trial. With a new team of lawyers in place, Jackson appears to be continuing to rejuggle his inner circle to prepare for the ordeal ahead. Sources say he has minimized the involvement of the Nation of Islam and is relying more heavily on his brother Randy for advice. Hey Rabbi Shmully Boteach, why aren't you around your friend Michael with your kids anymore? You scared?

Bringing 'Heimishe' business to South America

For a second year, a group of six MBA students, accompanied by the Director of Global Business Practicums and Professor of Management, Dr. Alan Randolph from University of Baltimore, came on an 8-day visit to Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas – UPC. This year the group included a Heimishe guy, Yoel Schmidt from Yeshivah Ner Yisroel of Baltimore, MD. During their stay, the group visited important companies, met with business leaders, had a chance to analyze the Peruvian economy, business climate, and the viability of doing business in Lima. Yoel also visited Chabbad houses in both Bogota, Colombia and Lima, Peru. The group also learned about the culture through lectures and tours. The group of students included, Michael Kelly, Yoel Schmidt, Adam Black, Marco Antonio Parra and Kemika Siprajim.

Arab smashes through front doors of Torah Vodas with a van

An Arab man drove his van right through the front doors of Torah Vodas Yeshivah in Flatbush smashing down the doors and ending up partially inside the building. Police arrived shortly after at the scene and questioned the driver who claimed he had no idea how he ended up through the doors. I bet some time in jail would help him remember.

Get high speed internet access and save on your taxes

President Bush urged Congress to slap a permanent ban on taxes consumers pay for high-speed Internet broadband hookups. I guess the President like the internet as much as Al Gore does.

Arafat: I wanna be a martyr; Please don't kill me!

Palestinian President Yasser Arafat emerged from his half-destroyed compound in Ramallah yesterday to denounce "Sharon and his gang" before hundreds of supporters. "I am not afraid to become a martyr," Arafat said as the crowd outside his besieged headquarters chanted. He afterwards only called on other Arab leaders to protect him from Sharon, nothing else.

New 'Tznius' law to be put in affect in Louisiana

People who wear low-slung pants would face a fine and possible jail time under a bill filed by a Jefferson Parish lawmaker. The bill would punish anyone caught wearing low-riding pants that expose skin with a fine of as much as $500 or as many as six months in jail, or both. The bill would be tacked onto the state's obscenity law. Yeah, just try making such a law in New York.

3,000 injured in North Korea

Really unbelievable, 3,000 people were injured today in North Korea when two trains carrying liquid petroleum collided. Kim Jong Il, the Leader of North Korea, had passed that spot only nine hours earlier. I wonder what their safety standards are, probably you can do anything as long as the Leader isn't in any kind of danger.

Now you can have your ice cream cake and eat it too

Carvel Ice Cream is about to open for business on thirteenth avenue. It will be Cholov Yisroel under the strict Rabbinical supervision of Rabbi Beck, The Opsher Rav. I'm hoping it will be as good as Carvel is supposed to be. (No, I did not receive any compensation or fee for this post.)

New internet vulnerability

Guess what, yeah that's right the British Government discovered a new vulnerability with all internet traffic. They claim this security breach allows hackers to disable internet routers causing the cessation of internet data flow. They are currently fixing the problem keeping details of the glitch a secret. Does anyone smell internet terrorism?

Taking an illegal dip?!

Two overheated Canadian women had to be dragged out of the Central Park reservoir by cops yesterday after an illegal plunge to cool off.
As temperatures soared to 85 degrees, Deirdre Barkhouse, 26, and Annalise Spencer, 18, both of Niagara Falls, Ontario, scaled the chest-high wrought-iron fence, with spikes on top, that circles the 40-foot-deep reservoir and jumped in fully clothed.

Some nice weather

Basking in the sun for the first time this spring season. This nice weather should continue for another couple of days at least. Maybe it will make up for the cold and nasty weather we had this Chol HaMoed. It was quite a sight seeing all the Heimishe Yidden running for cover to the Astroland arcade room when it started raining.

Hamas hiding like mice

Now all of a sudden it's not so much fun to be the leader of Hamas. The new guy I guess will be the 'secret' leader of Hamas. What a coward!

Boston take your best shot

Yankees fight the cursed Red Sox tonight, lets see if they'll get a boon of a shot at the Boston beans. Shame it has to be on Shabbos though, those Anti-Semites.

Forgetting 9/11?!

It's funny how so short after 9/11/01 we have totally forgotten how we need to be united. That feeling of unity that we all felt just two short years ago seems to have disappeared, and instead we have partisan fighting over the tragic events that took place that day. I would like to know which idiot thinks that President Bush knew what was coming and deliberately let it happen! I find it quite interesting the new uprisings in Iraq now, think it has anything to do with the divisive message we are transmitting about ourselves around the world?

Wanna lease a car? Fuggedaboudit!

Waddaya know, pretty soon you won't be able to lease any cars in New York State anymore, thanks to new state laws that allow you to sue the leasing companies and banks for car accidents involving the cars they leased out or financed nobody wants to deal with the legal hassles anymore and will stop sevicing New York possibly in the near future.
I guess people will now have to wait till their in-laws can afford to buy them that new RX330.
Here see for yourself
