MUSIC SHOP'S SINFUL RHYTHMS STIR SATMARS
A holy battle of the bands has boiled over in
rowdy protests in a Hasidic section of Williamsburg.
More than 100 ultra-conservative members of the Satmar sect have
gathered in the streets for the past week to protest a new music
store on Lee Avenue, some claiming that its Hebrew name strikes a
sour note.
"It's an Israeli word," said one young person, outside the store
called GalPaz. "And we don't believe in [Israel]."
The Satmars, who speak Yiddish, don't believe a Jewish state can be
formed until the Messiah comes.
Others in the community also said there was concern that the store
would be a bad influence as a hangout for wayward youth.
And since the store opened a little over a week ago, it's been
besieged by protests, insults, egg throwing and more.
"They stuffed up the locks [with glue] and spray-painted the ground,"
said a store employee, Abraham Rosenfeld, 29.

NYC Marshal busts open basement lock on a store
A New York City Marshal accompanied by Keyspan Energy busted open the basement door lock of a store on the corner of 55th Street and New Utrecht Avenue. The owner of the store, which has been closed for over a year now, could not be contacted by Keyspan, who wanted their gas meter back. After the Marshal had clipped the lock the Keyspan employees entered the premises and removed the store's gas meter.

Lipa Schmeltzer releases new album 'Heilige Neginim'
Lipa Schmeltzer released his new album today. 'Heilige Neginim' is a collection of Chassidishe songs, a true change of pace for the notorious Lipa who is known for his feisty rap style songs. As the rumor goes, Skverer Rebbe promised Lipa that he will find great success with this toned down album as well. I guess either that or he'll end up in jail.

Yingerman hits 10 year-old girl from Satmar
A yingerman driving down 53rd Street and 14th Avenue hit a girl crossing the street. Hatzalah quickly arrived at the seen and whisked the girl away to the hospital. The girl was Boruch Hashem responsive on the way. Judging from the size of the driver, it was sure lucky she didn't run into him.

Heimishe yingerman picked up by Feds while picking up cell phone
A Heimishe yingerman was picked up in Monsey by Federal Agents and arrested on the way to pick up his Verizon cell phone. The yingerman after using his newly bought house to make bail told the cell phone store owner that he had know idea that the Agents were after him. The Federal Agents were apparently tipped-off by a woman who was arrested earlier in the week who was also involved with this crime ring. I think I'll stick with Cingular cell phone service.

Traffic Cop arrested for pushing Police Officer
A Traffic Police Officer had been issuing an expired meter summons to a car on 13th Avenue corner 51st Street when a uniformed Police Officer from the 72nd Precinct ran up and pointed out to him that the car was his and in fact had a Police parking pass displayed. The Traffic Cop continued to write the ticket. The Police Officer started yelling at the Traffic Cop at which point the Traffic Cop proceeded to push the Police Officer. The Police Officer grabbed his handcuffs and placed the Traffic Cop under arrest all the while yelling, "You don't put your hands on me!". A Police was called and the Traffic Cop was placed inside. Now if only I could arrest every Traffic Cop that tried to give me a ticket.
