Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci on Thursday condemned the desecration of the old Jewish cemetery in Pristina with Nazi graffiti as police launched an investigation into the case.
"This cowardly attack is an attack against the state of Kosovo, and above all an attack on the traditional values of the citizens of Kosovo," Thaci said in a press release.
"These acts are an unacceptable low and will not be tolerated in any way," he added.
Police said the abandoned graveyard in a Pristina suburb had been targeted by vandals in the past two days, with Nazi graffiti sprayed on the graves saying "Jud Raus" (Jews out) in German.
The Jewish cemetery was restored earlier this year with the help of students from the U.S.
