State Police have arrested a man on a felony charge of criminal mischief after he allegedly smashed out a large plate glass window at 79 Main Street in the Village of Bloomingburg.

That building is owned by Shalom Lam, the developer that is building apartments for a Hasidic community in the village.

The suspect, Michael Essig, 38, of Wurtsboro, was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana as a violation.

He was arraigned and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail without bail pending a future court appearance.
