Lt. Governor tours Hasidic summer camps, meets with campers and community leaders

Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul visited Hasidic girls' summer camps in South Fallsburg and Kerhonkson to meet the children and discuss the governor's accomplishments with campers and community leaders.

Hochul said after the private tours and meetings that this was a first-time experience for her to see the girls are given the opportunity to enjoy the fresh air and beauty of the Catskills.

"Some of the girls were from Williamsburg and the other parts of the country and have an opportunity to escape the harsh living on the city streets and be able to come up and enjoy the beautiful counties in the Mid-Hudson area," she said. "It's also an opportunity to show our appreciation for their contributions to our community and their priority on educating their children."

Hochul also told the Hasidic leaders that theirs is an important community in the state.
