Cops bust creep wanted for sucker-punching Hasidic man in Brooklyn

The creep who sucker-punched a stranger dressed in full Hasidic garb in Brooklyn was busted Tuesday, officials said.

Enrique Gerena, 32, was collared at 2:25 p.m. and charged with committing a hate crime and assault in the third degree for the Nov. 30 attack, police said.

Cops had released video that showed the 33-year-old victim talking to another man in ultra-Orthodox clothing in front of 68 Throop Ave. in Williamsburg right before he was punched in the back of the head by the raving man at 6:40 p.m., cops said. He was left with swelling and bruising but refused medical attention.

Gerena has a rap sheet, but it includes no prior hate crimes, police sources said.

He was most recently arrested May 21 for assaulting two paramedics in an ambulance while he was high on K2, sources said. He also was hit with an attempted-grand-larceny charge May 2 for allegedly trying to take someone's wallet at a homeless shelter. Last year, he was arrested for menacing his 35-year-old brother with a knife in a dispute over money, sources said.

The Friday evening attack took place a day after two Hasidic boys, ages 9 and 12, were hit in the same area — one near Throop and Walton Street, the other near Walton and Union avenues. Cops said the attack on the two children is still under investigation.
