Bizarre shooting on the streets of Crown Heights
A man was killed, apparently by random gunfire, as he moved his car for alternative side parking on a street in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn.
Eyewitness News reporter Ken Rosato is live in Crown Heights with the story.
Police say 47-year-old Frederick Klein was shot as he moved his car for alternate side of the street parking on Carroll Street just before 1:30 a.m. Klein was shot at least twice, once in the right arm and once in the upper right side of his chest.
Hit by the gunfire, he lost control of his blue Dodge Caravan and careened into five or six parked cars, setting his van on fire.
He was pulled from the blazing vehicle and rushed to Kings County Hospital, where he pronounced dead.
Eyewitness News has learned Klein was not believed to have been a target and was believed to have been hit by random gunfire. No arrests were made.
Shots were reported fired in the area moments before the victim was hit.
Members of the Lubavitch sect of Orthodox Jews, of which Klein was a member, said they were posting a $10,000 reward for information leading to his killer.

When the police and press say that Mr. Klein was not the intended target, they are only saying that to calm people down. Someone does not get accidently shot three times. They don't even know who the shooter was how can they say it was an accident?
The Lubavitch community has raised the reward to 30,000 and growing...
There will be a protest this sunday in front of the 71st precinct because as reported in the daily news several weeks ago; crime in Brooklyn and NYC has gone down everywhere with the exception of crown heights where it has increased. The police where the last to arrive on the scene of the crime. We in crown heights know the police at the 71st precinct are apathetic and lazy!
DO NOT STAND BY IDLY WHILE A FELLOW JEWS BLOOD IS SPILLED!

I Never knew this site existed but I am the man that pulled Mr. Klein out of the burning van I really Wish that Mr. Klein family hope that they fine his killer. After Mr.Kleins Death there were cops posted on the block where he was killed its now a month later and you can not fine one police officer with in 10 blocks that is sad and what are the NYPD doing to pervent this from happening again. As an African american some people might think that we dont care but it not color is human and as I look at Mr. Klein face as he was in my arm I knew he was dead and as a grown Man I pray and cry as I pray that something like this does not happen again.
