What is extremism doing for the heimishe community?
These past couple of months we have seen an escalating level of extremism within the heimishe community. The spray-painting of newspaper boxes, the shattering of bus stop ad displays and graffiti on the Oorah billboard are just a couple of examples. While these 'religious' acts of vandalism are entirely illegal and definitely against Halacha, the bigger question is; what are they accomplishing?
Are people actually reading the New York Times less since the windows on the distribution boxes have been painted black? Are there less people eating at Burger King since their bus stop ads have been torn down? Is there actually any sign of more ehrliche children with longer payos since the little boy on the Oorah billboard had his face blackened?
I guess the question that I'm posing here is; what are our true motives? Is it Yiddishkeit or wanton vandalism? Are we actually saving our society from the outside influence, or are we bringing the outside influence of destruction right into our community?
What values are we passing down to the next generation? What will they be and look like?

You pose some good questions and hopefully someone will give an answer that can explain these actions and put an end to them.
I have been saying this for the longest time now and I want everybody to know that what these so called Erliche Yidden are doing is being done to cover up what these people really are..
They paint up the childs face that you should think that they do not want to see a cute boys face, but they really like it, they paint up the New York Times boxes so that you should think that they dont read it, but they are the ones reading it, they smash billboards with not Tzinisduk pictures, but they really want to see it..
They are just covering up what they really are, and that is a bunch of Lo-Life Leidegeiers that look at women and boys all day and night..They think we do not know what they are, but they are greatly mistaken..Do not let it bother you because they are a bunch of sick people..The time will soon come when the whole world will know what they really are..They are the shame of the Yiddishe people and make the biggest Chilul Hashem that there is...

The Whole world will not know what they are unless we make it clear. If such behavior is allowed to continue, before you know it we're going to have our very own Tznius Patrol made up of a bigger bunch of sickos.
Chaptzem, thank you for shedding light.

And where is the condemnation from the so-called Frum "leadership," the "gedolim"? And can we expect some words of disapproval in HaModia or Yated or JO?
Who cares what the Frummies in Willy do, nobody takes them seriously anymore..let them go get a life, let them find jobs in B & H and let them pack boxes and they will not have time to paint over pictures of cute kids and women..

But remember - it is the charaidim who look down on everyone else, not the Modern Orthodox who write love letters like this about an entire neighborhood of Jews!

This is the saddest part of golus. Ehrliche yidden are being condemned for standing up for yiddishkeit.
Good news to New Yorkers:
There is still alot of ehrlichkeit in other Jewish communities around the country, like Chicago, Minneapolis, LA, Dallas, and many other cities. Yidden around the country have much more menuchas hanefesh than you people in fast-paced NYC. So our whole existence is more yiddish. Sure, many shuls have their own "politics" and "machers" who make trouble. But overall, it's much better - and we'd like to keep it that way too!!
