The Sefer Leket Amarim by Reb Yaakov Meri Shechter says that it is a tradition to elevate goyishe nigunim by using them for Avodas Hashem.
In that chapter he tells over a story of a group of Chasidim who were hiding from the Nazis, and meanwhile were humming Warmacht marches and the like.
