Apple shows anti-Semitic side by releasing iPhone minutes before Jewish Sabbath

After six months of unprecedented hype, thousands of people Friday will get their hands on the iPhone, the new cell phone that Apple Inc. is banking on to become its third core business next to its moneymaking iPod players and Macintosh computers.

By early evening Thursday, short lines of eager customers were camped out at Apple and AT&T stores across the nation. The gadget, which combines the functions of a cell phone, iPod media player and wireless Web browser, will go on sale in the United States at 6 p.m. Friday in each time zone.

At Apple's flagship store in New York City, the trickle of customers that began queuing up since Monday grew to about 50 people late Thursday, ready to brave yet another rainy night on the pavement of Fifth Avenue, outside the only 24-hour Apple store.

"It's pretty miserable sleeping in the rain, but it's worth it," said a tired David Clayman, who was second in line at the store and had gotten a total of eight hours of sleep over four days, awakened at times by TV camera crews shining bright lights in his eyes. The Chicago resident vacationing in New York planned to buy two iPhones — one to resell to raise money for a charity and another as a gift for his father.

The gadget with a 3.5-inch touch-screen display, which Apple CEO Steve Jobs has touted as "revolutionary," has been the focus of endless anticipatory chatter and has been parodied on late-night TV. Since its unveiling in January, expectations that it will become yet another blockbuster product for Apple has propelled the company's stock up more than 40 percent.

And Shabbos won't come unless you have this device?

"Apple shows anti-Semitic side by releasing iPhone minutes before Jewish Sabbath"

Whats the matter with you? Hows is this antisemitisim???? Movies are released on fridays as well, is that antisemetic as well?

Get a life.

I don't think it's antisemitic, and I can live without this phone. I think people are more than A Bissel Meshuga to wait for days on line outside a store just to buy the latest electronic device. What's wrong with waiting until there's an abundance in the market? It'll become obsolete in a short while anyway.

Why place anitsemitism where it isn't? Shabbos is around 8pm. You've got two hours.

Wel Chaptzem, You have proven yourself beyond doubt to be the IDIOT we all thought you are! How dare you post a headline making it seem as if this came from Yahoo! "Apple shows anti-Semitic side by releasing iPhone minutes before Jewish Sabbath" how stupid can you get......

Don't care if you post it or not - just wanted to vent... but knowing you 14 comments (yes, believe it or not chaptzem once reached 14 comments to a post! bravo!) is a big deal so you probably will end up posting it.....

You are really paranoid. Im sure that all the marketing staff at apple were plotting is "how can we annoy the jews?" You have serious issues, man !! You prob also think that the anti-semites upstae wait for the summer to do construction on the 17.

YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CRAZY! THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ANTI-SEMITISM!

Why do you and so many others insist on seeing anti-semitism under every single rock and stone. I guarantee you that anti-semitism was the furthest thing from Apple's mind when they made this decision. It was more likely a decision made by the marketing department in order to give people time to buy it over the weekend.

GET A LIFE!!!

your headline is out of place,

I work for Apple, and have not been discriminated against in any way whatsoever.

Wait until after Shabbat and get your phone then.

oy, nebbach! what will the boro bushers/flatparkers talk on?????

They are definitely anti-semeitic...they even waited for all the Yidden to go up to dee country....dose nazi besterds

This remark is so rediculous I don't know where to begin. I guess I only have myself to blame for browsing this enlightenned site.

The above commenters are fools. Chaptzem just wrote that to get a rise out of you.

Nah, real anti-semitism is an unwashed chassid walking into an electronics store, touching eveything with his hands, making loud comments, then dialing his friend Yankel, telling him about the "overpriced junk that his Feter Shmil can get for 2 bucks cheaper", all the while spitting while LITHPING, annoying every customer and the owners, being asked to leave, and making the propriator HATE Jews. Then you can scream Sonei Yisroel, and you will be right, except for the fact that WE made him hate us.

we should never need pace makers

I had some stuff to write but I think everyone above has covered it for me, thanx!

G-d is showing us that His "Chosen People" that care about his Mitzvot should not be into these stupid things but into learning davening and good deeds

Aaron,

Are you suggesting that Steven Job is God? And that he wants you to engage in "learning davening and good deeds"?

Because, as CEO of Apple, I'm pretty sure that it was Jobs and not God that decided when the iPhone would be released.

But your whole community probably is too close-minded to actually post something rational like this.

Rabbi Yisroel Belsky when asked to comment from the Catskills on this subject stated that Apple's Steve Jobs has by this shown himself to be a genuine anti-semite. Rabbi Belsky said it is clear that Apple doesn't want Jewish business, and the community should keep that information in mind when they shop.
I hope this puts it straight for your readers.

If Rabbi Belsky said this, we all know it is a LIE..and like everything else he says and does, just know and do the opposite..that is why so many TRUE Rabbonim hate him and don't hold with anything he says.
