Rabbi Yehuda Levin - Maimonides has betrayed us
Comments:
wha wha - what a baby- this guy must be really bored- what a loser- its a big world - find something more important to kvetch about
"Megaglopolis"?????
-But more seriously he keeps yapping about mandate -did he check the Maimonides' incorporation and tax exempt documents -does it say anything about being a local hospital for jews??
Being that it's a non-profit there's very little that he can do to shake up the board especially given Maimo's connections.

I don't understand this guy. The history of Maimonides has nothing to do with the current state of the hospital. It's a privately run business and like any business it's trying to make as much profit as possible. In terms of the rabbi's argument about the hospital spending 5 million dollars on a cancer treatment facility I don't quite get his point. The hospital spent THEIR money on this part of hospital. G-d forbid on of his family members were to get cancer I'm sure he would be happy that they have that facility. In terms of the ER being crowded...go find me a hospital in the 5 Boroughs that is not crowded and I'll give you my first born. It's only going to get worst once Victory closes down. Lastly, I think his criticism of Hatzollah is definitely misplaced. These men volunteer their time to help people in need of emergency medical care. Do you really think they have time for all this political bickering when they have a patient that is having a heart attack, stroke or whatever the case may be?
1) that new building behind you is in part a new emergency room.
2) every jewish person that the other ambulance picks up want to go to "IZ"
3) you stupid arragant moron who is trying to make a big mane for your self on U tube, stop your baloney, we dont want to hear it

Maimonides Hospital is one of the worst hospitals in New York. Walk into the emergency room. It looks like the bunkers in concentration camp.
My father was in the emergency room for hours. He was close to 90yrs old and afraid. The staff did not alow us to stand next to his bed. They sent s children out of the room with security because he wanted us there.
Having experienced quite a few hospitals in the city, I have to say there are very few hospitals that are much better.
My father stayed 7 weeks in Mount sinai gastrointerology department, that was the worse. The staff was terrible. My 90 year old father got bedsores which could have been avoided. Mimonides is gold compared to Mt. Sinai. He was also in Long Island College which was also the pits. The emergency room was something like Maimonides.
My father-in-Law was in New York Cornel which was great. He was treated like a King. The staff was terrific.
My mother is in NYU Hospital. It is the best of all I have seen. The doctors, emergency room, staff, and nurses are just fantastic.
Maimonides and Mt. Sinai are tje two worst hospitals in New York.

Rabbi Levin keeps saying "we" "we" "we". Who does he represent? Is this part of a plan of his for another run for Congress. He accuses Hatzala of taking bribes. Does anyone how who funds him or what his source of income is. Sorry Rabbi Levin your accusations and half truths don't convince me.
i like this guy...
we live in a capitalistic world where its all about the bottom line... so its hard to understand why the hopital should not seek to please the himishen tzibur a little better.
in my opinion it will only get better if they become real big... think about it...

Seeing your headline I thought Levin was accusing Rambam of betrayal.

I hate to say this but many "heimishe" yidden have made a terrible name for themselves, unabashedly causing a tremendous chillul Hashem. The moment an unreasonable request is denied by a staff member, be it a doctor or (in the eyes of the frum world) a "lowly" nurse, the family of the patient is on the phone calling in all their "connections." this is even (and more often than not) when the request is not in the best interest of the patient. I've witnessed this myself. It's unfortunate that the frum customers are sometimes not the easiest to deal with...
i can tell you if you were to go to aim byisroel in new square and ask all the mothers who just had babies in miamonidies you would never let yourself or your wife give birth there. in september when it was yom tov time they let mothers sit in waiting rooms and hallways with babies that were just born and not cleaned for hours (some woman even told me they were downstairs for 16hrs before going up.) how can you treat woman who just gave birth like garbage. its like a mass production factory there. deliver and get out. why is it that rachmano latzlon ppl are hanging on a thin string for life cause nurses dont believe you when you say you dont feel right after giving birth? they just laught it of as just another woman complaining. my grandmother died there many yrs ago but i will never forget what happened. when we went to call the nurses cause she was having a hard time breathing they yelled at us that they are busy doing paperwork.by the time they came she had passed away. i once complained to a jewish nurse when i was there for myself about something that my roommates familymembers were doing and she answered me "you ppl are no better" . a bunch of rude nurses who have no patience.
"why is it that rachmano latzlon ppl are hanging on a thin string for life cause nurses dont believe you when you say you dont feel right after giving birth?"
-----------------------------
Why is it that rachmano latzlon people seek to blame others when things are clearly rotzon Hashem and some things simply cannot be prevented and are out of our hands? Is it a lack of bitachon?
Why is it that if "aim byisroel" have such "horrible" experiences giving birth at Maimonides ,do they retuen for their 4th, 5th 6th and 7th birth?

No one is forcing you to go to Maimonides to give birth to your child. If you don't have the money to get yourself a midwife and you're on MEDICARE/ MEDICAID then DEAL WITH IT!!!! You don't goyim complaining like you guys are. Sick
We do not make a chillel hashem. In fact, we always make a kidish hashem. The bikur cholim rooms and organizations, the food that we frum yiden distribute is unbelieveable.
Try watching what the goyim look like and act like in the emergency rooms, drunk or beaten up by friends or spouses, or drugged. I have been in plenty hospitals and emergency rooms and never saw a frum yid act like a drunk or drugged goy.
Most yiden sit by the bedside of their beloved qyietly saying tehilim.

Unfortunately I can only add a few more horror stories about Maimonides, I was in many hospitals, this is the worst, the attitude of the nurses, although I always brought them something, so then for a few days they were better, but they are definitely a lower class, the filth in the patients room is unheard of, then they put two contact p patients in critical condition together, where they reinfect one another this went on for three months, lets not talk about the bedsores, that they tried to ignore, until family members called the Vaad Refuah and they got involved, they are supposed to turn patients, but most of the time they turned the lock on the wall, its true they are overworked and understaffed, but that is not what the family wants to see and hear when they have a loved one, what a shame in the midst of our community and with all these askanim that we should have such a terrible hospital in our midst, after spending a few months there I said I will write a book and publicize it to the world, surprise that they dont get hit with major lawsuits daily.... time to do something, Pamela Brier has to retire!!!
It's obvious that all the people sticking up for maimonides haven't spent time there as a patient, It's horrible.
and to the stupid anon @ May 29, 2008 5:33 PM: Hide your first-born quick, and yes, Hatzollah knows very good & well what goes on there, ask any member.

i think if thier insurance carriers new about all these problems they would investigate . Why are you complaing here . Go under cover and send the tape to the the local media and waatch some heads roll.
We should ask ourselves how we pay for the hospital.Do we have decent health insurance or are we using medicare. It's all about money.
We can't think of ourselves as a rich community that deserves suburban health care ,but compensate the hospital liker an inner city hospital. If you pay like an inner city hospital you get an inner city hospital

***** ARE YOU FOR REAL !!!! ****
This is so crazy - the only thing
crazier is idiots, like yours truly, responding to it!
Alright, simple math. The Boro Park
olam population, is ,B"H, growing; I mean, growing big! Of course the ER is going to be crowded. So, what's so Geferlach about a hospital expanding its facilities, which should alleviate some of the crowding ?!

Actually, it is a tax-exempt non-profit, not like anyone else. Does every one know that Maimonides is REQUIRED to provide millions in patient charity care to justify their tax-exempt status. How many of you reading this were advised that they could apply for charity care before they were billed or sent to a collection agency? The money that was spent for the Cancer center is your tax money at work.
The machars do not care about how crowded the ER is because they don't have to wait for a bed. Imagine what it is like for a nurse in the ER who has just told a patient in could be hours before they can be assigned an inpatient bed when 5 minutes late the VP for Community Liason comes into the ER and, in front of everybody, announces publicly that plony almony Mr Big Shot( who just came in ) is getting the next bed.

hey rabbi levin- how about staging an armed coup de'etat to forcefully take over maimonides and then you can run the hospital any way you want.
Maimonides is just like most of the other non for profit hospitals where the hospital administration doesn't quite care about patients in the ER, all they're concerned with is maximizing their profits.
I had my own experiences with them as well, my 87 year old grandmother was laying on a gurney in the ER for 36 hours, with breathing difficulty. It took them over 12 hours just to bring her something to eat. My wife was laying in the ER, vomiting, with an acute appendicitis for 16 hours before they put her in a room.
But they have a 98.5% occupancy rate, so who could blame them. Do you know why they're so busy? HATZOLAH, yes Hatzolah, a wonderful group of volunteers led by the most corrupted individuals, I won't name them but Hatzolah is one of the most corrupted organizations in our community. Not the members which happen to be tzadikkim, I'm referring to the leadership.

Even if Rabbi Levin was wrong, how can anyone justify such extreme CHILDISH type of cheap put-downs and such vulgar hatred against him?
"Who is he" and other such stupid questions makes no sense at all and is irrelevant.
Are his accusations TRUE or false - that is the question.
The fact that all those whop PUT DOWN, Rabbi Levin could not prove him wrong (other than GETTING PERSONAL against the Rabbi with silly childish put downs) proves that the Rabbi is 100% on target and 100% correct!
It;s overtly evident that all who responded here with disgusting venom against Rabbi Levin was all the top Board of Directors of the Hospital.
Rabbi Levin you have accomplished a LOT as evident that you got every single one of the Hospitals top knockers to come to this blog and kvetch by trying to discredit you with cheap put down rather than address all the legitimate concerns you have raised.
All the childish put down against Rabbi Levin sound like a 5 year old kid who has nothing LOGICAL to say except silly low life put downs against the only Rabbi who had the guts to disclose the real horrors of the hospital.

I gave birth in January in this hospital, and I had a terrible experience. After delivery I waited 7 hours till I was transfered upstairs to a room, because they had no room available. I think it is crazy that a new mother after 9 hard months and hours of labor should be treated this way. I was put in the meantime in a very small room, it was so hot there and when I asked them to put on the AC she said it is on, it was horrific!! The nurses upstairs were very mean of course. At night they made such a racket, I thought I am in a bar, not in a maternity ward...My roomate had a Csection so she was waken every few hours to take her BP and of course the nurse had no problem waking in at 4:00am punching open the door, putting on the light, talking to my roomate, it was so MEAN, I was soooooo exhausted I wanted to sleep but it was impossible, why cant they set up patients that have to be woken every few hours together, all you need is a little consideration to the mothers which they DONT have. and to all that say this is what u get with medicaid, I have Oxford and many mothers there have insurance too. The reason I chose them is I wanted a hospitel close to my home so that when i go into labor I dont have to travel too long. Why cant they be more accomidating for birth?? We really need to do something about it. The get alot of buisness from us, We jewish woman kein hora have lots a kids and its funny that a hospital in our midst cant even accomidate us...And all mothers who birthed there recently have similar stories
Kashrus problems:
I didn't hear anything about kashrus but for example they have only one dishwasher for meat and dairy .
I think it is about time our Rabbonim, and Rabbonim expert on Kashrus should be given permission to visit at any time and monitor the situation.

7 hours? Boy are you lucky! How about 17 hours??? That's how long i waited before my husband called someone on the board and w/in an hour i was in a room. And i don't like taking advantage of such people, that's why i waited 17 hours.
I own a nursing facility, and if I would run my place the way Maimonides runs their hospital, the state would shut down my place. If any of ou patients have bedsores like the maimondes patients, the city or state would
shut down my facility.
We should call down the state and they will investigate and close down this hospital.

Why are you complaining if you continue to go there and take your family members there?????????? Everyone knows someone who had a bad experience there and they all go back. It is normal to wait in the dirty chaotic Emergency Dept for 75 hours. If you are still alive after that and if your family member that is with you didnt collapse from standing next to you since there are no chairs allowed then it takes them another few hours to find a transporter to move you. And when they finally throw you on the bed like a shmatte then you are again at the mercy of some nasty lazy nurse in a filthy room that has not been cleaned since the 80's.
why cant we do something about the crap care at this crap hospital. I have never in my life seen such sickening uncaring nurses who do everyhting except their job, the lousy, uneducated doctors who have big heads but little minds. they should all get to experience the crap care that takes place. Hopefully they all drop dead. Hopefully Pam Brier, the crap uneducaated residents, the nurses and the staff get horrible, painful diseases and die horrible painful deaths with bedsores and hospital acquired infections like the way they treat their patients. Justice needs to be served. Why dont we put together a collection of the horror stories that occur at this place. This needs to be known. This does not happen at other hospitals. They are getting away with murder at Maimonides hospital.
