Jewish study center in Monsey damaged by fire
A two-story building used as a Jewish study center was damaged by a fire late this morning.
Most of the damage to the center at 21 Rita Ave. was to the roof. Monsey Fire Chief Doug Perry thinks the fire started on the roof, perhaps in a sukkah that was still located there.
Flames and thick, black smoke was pouring from the building when firefighters arrived. Everyone had already been evacuated. No one was injured.
