New Square's new dress code for boys

Can Someone please explain what's wrong with a 4 slice kappel? I've seen this prohibited by other yeshivos even in BP.
Also the Plastic frame rule, I think it's tight enough these days to cut out framless, but only plastic seems like they're not with the people or the times.

I guess they watched You Tube and saw how Lipa dresses. Anything he wears is no good!!

Translation please!

I wish ALL yeshivos and girls schools would institute such dress codes!
While my children's schools have either uniform requirements or dress codes, they only cover the actual clothing, not accessories such as glasses, etc.
Please tell me why a 10 year old needs $300 GLASSES!!!
And then when he breaks them playing ball, YOU YELL AT HIM!
he's 10 - let him grow up!

To anonymous 11:45 - $300 is the normal going rate for a pair of glasses. My daughter wears glasses, and that's what it comes to - nothing designer, nothing fancy. The frames are one price and the lenses are another price, and when you add it up, it's $300. The only "extra" we add on is flexible frames, which actually save money because it means a little kid doesn't ruin their glasses before they need to be replaced, and the glasses last for several years even if they get slept in.

So if you're seeing kids with fancy designer glasses, I assure you - they're paying much more!

No payos perms??!!?? This is not the middle ages!

I don't know where you are shopping, but if you're paying $300 for your daughter you are being ripped off, unless your daughter has a special prescription. You can go to the eyeglass factory or walmart if you go to the country and get frames and lenses for less than $100. If you add some of the extras such as shaterproof, antiscratch etc. you're not going more than $150.

The problem with 4 slice kapplech is,they don't conform to "MOST" heads properly. This requires you to than use a pin/clip (if you wear your hair longer than a #2) or else it moves around too much, eventually ending up in your hand when you run.

The 6 slice kappelech stays on with a #2 or #3 haircut and fits more snug to the head with anything lower than a #2.

Also, you can find 6 slice ones that are machine washable.

Simply put, 6 slices fit better than 4. If you don't believe me. Ask someone who has worn both (myself and grandfather included). Or else spend the $5 and test it yourself.

PS Most frumer yeshivos like the boys to get #2 or lower haircuts.

Anon 12:35, you need to find a new place to shop...
"nothing designer, nothing fancy" only costs $60 at most.

the Rabbis are looking out for our benefit so we will have money to pay there salaries (yeshivah bills). They only have our interests in mind.meanwhile when they have weddings it costs over $250,000-and they invite the whole community-HYPOCRITIES-IM TIRED OF THIS ALREADY!!

I thought Snickers was the name of a candy bar.

Where is the Girls Dress Code....
would love to see that one.....

I've bought glasses in the discount stores before, and my experience has been that they advertise low prices but that's just for the frames. They still charge for the lenses at least another $100. And of course I get shatter-proof; I would never put lenses that could shatter near my daughter's eyes. I also get flex-frames, which extend the life of the glasses considerably.

I forgot to mention, though, that my daughter does have a bifocal. Does that make it more expensive?

Yes, especially if it's invisible bifocals.

This is sick. Do these Rabbis really have so much time on their hands?

can someone pls translate???

for everyone who keeps having the glasses debate...if you go for an eye exam at any local optometrist, you can then take the prescription and order glasses online for as cheap as $8 plus shipping....I am 20 years old and have been wearing glasses since about 8...and I know for a fact my father never spent and I have never spent over $100 for a pair.

you must be lucky enough to have a relatively average prescription as opposed to myself and other family members who have extremely strong precriptions. We order glasses at the local store because our lenses would be too thick for the frame. But this topic is way off course from the original posting.

PLEASE TRANSLATE!! PLEASE TRANSLATE!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE TRANSLATE!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE TRANSLATE!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE TRANSLATE!!!!!!!!!!!

What's with the burning need for a translation of the Skvere elementary school dress code? If you don't understand Yiddish, move on to the next post. Time to get a life.
