Orchidea - Boro-Park's first Glatt Kosher dairy restaurant

From the Brooklyn paper

Comments:
I know I am something of an "outsider" having long ago abandoned the holy streets of Boro Park for a location west of the Hudson River, but could someone please explain the difference between kosher milichigs and glatt kosher milichigs? Exactly which (and what part of) the milichig and pareve ingredients found in a dairy retaurant is a mashgiach bodek to differentiate between kosher and glatt kosher??

Haven't had a good laugh like this in a looong time!

your an עם הארץ

I love it. Glatt Kosher Milchigs.

I have the feeling these well-intended people have chosen the wrong neighborhood. I can't picture they winning the trust of the BP people.

why wouldnt they have the trust of the people in boro park?-are you so stupid- you cant tell its a misprint?
so that means there not kosher or something because of a misprint in a non-jewish newspaper? your "feeling" are wrong-good luck to them-im sure they have families to support to-

Ihave seen the term "glatt" used on milichig restaurants in Israel in conjunction with the hashgochoh. I inquired and was told that glatt in such a case means that they check for tolaim.

Some of the shock at the use of term glatt seems to be a lack of knowledge of the use of terms in hahgocho

I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT!!! mis print or not, everyone must go and experience this amazing place! The food is heaven and the service could'nt be better. I'm actually happy that they had this misprint or maybe, like the other person says it stands for the checking of worms, bec now more ppl will hear of Orchidea.Ofer and Mazal who r the owners are the sweetest ppl. I was so impressed with them that I constantly make parties at their place, have business meetings, made Sheva Brachos (out of this world;they really work from the heart)...and since I work int he medical field they catered one of my big events. The doctors there were astounded! They said "We did'nt know that Kosher food tastes this good!" and now there clinics order from them even though they are'nt Jewish. One reason they mentioned was the service and the cleanliness. Finally a Kosher Restaurant in Brooklyn with a whole lot of class!!

"Glatt" was the writers term. I've eaten there and it's a great upscale milchig restaurant with no equal. Great food, service and ambience. Try it.

AWESOME FOOD AND AWESOME SERVICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
B.I.

what they mean by "glatt kosher" milchigs is that the dairy came from a chassidishe cow from a farmer with yiras shomayim. its very simple. mehadrin min hamihadrin min hamehadrin.

Hey,wait a minute! Isnt Ofer, the guy who used to work by Mendel's Pizza on 18 Ave by the bus stop? Yea, that's him. He used to work by the counter. Doesnt anyone remember? Doesnt anyone care?

Unwinding at the end of a long day in Manhattan, I sat down to dinner at Boro Park’s famous restaurant Orchidea. What a beautiful place to relax, recharge and spend time with special people.
