Anti-Hasidic Wall Poster from 1800s Up for Auction
The controversy may seem antiquated today, but several hundred years ago, the "Misnagdim" as they were called, were quite suspicious of the newly established Hasidic Jewish movement. A "paskvil" or billboard posters dating back to the late 1800s will be up for auction at the end of January. The banner calls for a boycott of of the relatively new hasidic movement.
