Ottawa Teen Found Guilty in Terror Plot Against Jewish Community
In a disturbing case that has shaken the Ottawa community, a 17-year-old has been found guilty of plotting a terrorist attack aimed at the Jewish population in the city.
The teen, whose identity is protected due to his age, was inspired by the Islamic State group and had planned to use homemade bombs in a suicide assault.
Arrested in December 2023, this plot involved the possession of explosive substances, including acetone and metal ball bearings, with the intent to cause mass harm.
Ontario Superior Court Justice Ian Carter delivered the guilty verdict, emphasizing the serious nature of the conspiracy to commit murder through involvement with a terrorist group.
The case has garnered significant attention, with Israel’s Consul General in Toronto, Idit Shamir, acknowledging the real threat perceived by the Jewish community even before the arrest.
