Court clears way for Village of Woodbury vote
An appeals court ruling has cleared the way for Woodbury residents to vote whether to create a village that encompasses the whole town except its portion of Harriman.
Residents petitioned to form the village in 2004 amid fears that neighboring Kiryas Joel would expand into Woodbury. Their proposal then languished in court after landholders for the Hasidic community challenged it on technical grounds.
On Tuesday, an appeals panel overturned a January 2005 state Supreme Court decision that sided with Kiryas Joel, removing the only obstacle to a referendum on forming a Village of Woodbury.
The vote would be the second this year on creating a village in the area surrounding Kiryas Joel, whose high-density building and rapid growth riles its neighbors.
Three weeks ago, residents voted overwhelmingly to incorporate a 4.8-square-mile Village of South Blooming Grove, just north of Kiryas Joel.

I REMEMBER VERY CLEARLY WHEN KIRYAS JOEL FIRST TRIED TO BECOME A VILLAGE THESE SAME PEOPLE (BLOOMING GROVE, WOODBURY ETC.) ALL TRIED TO STOP THEM FROM DOING SO. NOW THEY ARE COPYING K.J. AND NOBODY ESPECIALLY K.J. IS TRYING TO STOP THEM. DON'T WORRY WHEN K.J. WILL GET AN OKAY FOR A PIPELINE TO TAP INTO THE CITY WATER ALL THESE LITTLE TOWNS OR VILLAGES WILL BE THE FIRST ONES TO JOIN THEM. SHAME ON THEM FOR NOT ALLOWING A GROWING COMUNITY LIKE K.J. GET SOME BADLY NEEDED WATER.....
Interestingly enough the intimidation is on the part of KJ. As a reminder the "goyim" that you are referring to are made up of many Jewish families, like mine, who simply would like to live their lives without the imposition of a religious doctrine that you find appropriate for your families. I simply don't care what you choose for your life style and would never impose mine on you.
In addition, I contribute to the tax roll while the KJ community drains our county from every penny that is paid into sustaining our lifestyles.
Keep in mind that the residents of KJ vote as a unified block dictated by the Rebbe lacking any independent thought. The vote is solely based on how it benefits KJ and not the community at large. Look in a mirror and tell me if that is fair.
We believe in inclusion of others, KJ believes in exclusion. A slight difference of opinions, YOU THINK?
