Esrog store in Boro-Park gets delivery on Shabbos

Picture taken after Shabbos

An esrog store on New Utrecht Avenue corner 54th Street received a truckload of esrogim on Shabbos afternoon. The truck, loaded with boxes of esrogim, arrived in front of the store on Shabbos, the workers then waited around until it was dark and then started unloading the boxes. Once it was already after Shabbos the owner of the esrog store showed up and opened the store for them to place the boxes inside.

Please Note:
This should in no way be misconstrued as a P'sak Halachah on the status of the esrogim. A Rav and the owner of the esrogim store should be consulted before purchasing these esrogim.

Comments:
What could possibly be asur about this?

I am in business, we import childrens clothing from Italy. There is no way we ever get deliveries of an air shipment on Shaboss. The delivery (last stage) airport or dock to our location is planned and coordinated in advance. For many reasons this could have been avouded. Is this such a busy time for esrogim that it could not wait for Monday(I have gotten deliveries from JFK on Sunday but the trucker was paid an extra $200).

What could possibly be asur about this?

Arranging for deliveries on Shabbos?

It IS the Busiest time for esrogim sellers.

i know of a shul that gftp deliveries of donations on shabbos by mail. I'll need to Ask My rav if it's ok to daven there!

Who shipped it and when?
In all probability it was sent to the shipping company before shabbos to be delivered after the shabbos. The truck arrived earlier then they were supposed to, so they waited.
So why are you trying to imply that someone did something wrong?
This slander of the worst type!

you dont have proof that the truck arrived on shabbos. because you dident take this picture on shabbos. by the way, your cigaretes are being delivered on saturday, most of foreign products are being shipped by ships which takes @least 2 weeks.

I have a question for all you poskim out there:

Suppose I order an esrog online before Shabbos for delivery by FedEx on a date uncertain. The FedEx driver, a gentile, arrives on Shabbos, and knowing the customs of the community, simply leaves the package outside my front door without ringing the bell or asking me to sign for it.

After Havdalah, I open the door and find the package.

Is there anyone here who actually believes that the esrog inside is pasul, assur b'hanaah or otherwise prohibited from being used on Sukkos?

As the first poster said,"What could possibly be asur about this?"

Even better, why is this even being discussed?

You could have made the story more interesting, like adding the Owner was there before Shabbos ended, or he gave the keys to a GOY, or whatever. Chapzem, you post some wacky things, this is up there with the wackey ones. UNLESS... Maybe Chaptzem has an earog business of his own, and is trying to drum up business by smearing the competition! GET A LIFE!!
Ksiveh VChasime Toiveh!!!

Actually, I think it is a compliment to the Esrog Store. He actually waited till after Shabbos to open the store and take the stuff in. What a Kiddush Hashem!! I think we should all buy Esrogim by this guy. He is amazing!!! Way to go!

The only thin assur here is parking on the sidewalk!

MR NEWES REPORTER NEXT TIME WHEN THE MAILMAN BRING YOUR MAIL ON SHABBOS PLEASE REPORT THE SAME

Lulav and Esrog were taken on Shabbos in the Beis Hamikdosh. So why not in allow hachnos to be done in Boro Park (Eer Hakodesh), ala sharpening knifes for korbon pesach.
