As we are Zocha to celebrate Chanukah and look at the beautiful candles burning, feeling the Simcha of the Mesirs Nefesh we had at the time of the Bais Hamikdosh towards Hashem, thanking him for saving us from the Greeks who tried to remove our ability of practicing Mitzvos of the Torah, an amazing thought comes to mind: if one closes their eyes they can imaging the view of objects in great distance, with closed eyes it might gives us a feeling of being closer to Hashem, like help us have Daven with greater Kavonah, however as soon as we reopen our eyes our vision / imagination becomes limited, perhaps one can explain, when we close our eyes we are disconnected from this Materialistic world, we are connecting to Hashem who gives us the power to see the light of Torah even in the darkness of the Golus, as soon as we open our eyes connect back to our daily life styles of pleasures and glory our vision becomes limited, because this Gashmius world is blinding to our Neshomah, unless we fight the Yatzer Hora on a daily basis, we can't feel the closeness to Hashem, but on Chanukah we have a chance to open our eyes, looking at the shining lights of the Menorah in this dark world, it will still gives us the yearning towards the Geulah which we are hoping for every moment, Chanukah reminds us of the Mesirus Nefesh we had and still have with in us to serve Hashem Yisboruch with out looking over our shoulders what others might be choosing as a way of life.
