Department of Transportation Employee impersonates a Police Officer on tape

A Bocher was taking pictures of workers putting up a traffic light, when a Department of Transportation Supervisor comes up to him and tells him he can't take pictures. The Bocher asks why not and he says because he needs a permit. When the Bocher says that he never heard of such a thing, the DOT guy flashes a badge and tells him to stop taking pictures. The Bocher asks the guy if he has law enforcement powers and the guy says yes. When asked by which authority, he says from the DOT. The guy then calls over a Police Officer that happened to be nearby to tell the Bocher to stop taking pictures. When the Cop approaches, the Bocher tells him that the DOT guy was impersonating an Officer and he denies it. In the end, both the Cop and the DOT guy admit that it is legal to take the pictures. The Bocher then leaves as a courtesy to them. Hey, just listen to the clip.

Comments:
actualy the DOT guy is whats called a peace officer under new york state law who has the power to arrest and enforce certain laws within their perview, their agencie actually discourages them from using this power even though they have it.

After listening to the clip twice, at no time did I hear either the police officer or the DOT supervisor admit that it was legal to take the pictures. Unless I missed something, you are merely, once again, exagerating (lying) and blowing things out of proportion. Typical.

This bochur is an idiot. You are not allowed to take pictures on the subway. This bochur idiot said" I keep track of the news and the laws... you could take pictueres in the subway"

Where did he keep track of the news, from the Hamodia newspaper?

He needs to find a new resource.

you can NOT take pictures of Bridges, subway stations, pictures of people witout their permission, etc.

Get your facts straight.

and for the DOT worker. he did state he is a SUPERVISOR for the Department of Transportation. he did not say I WORK FOR THE NYPD. So once again gets your FACTS straight. Before you go trying to insult anyone.

why wasnt the bocher in yeshiva where all good bochers are supposed to be.

You guys are such dimwits. Taking pictures on the Subway IS legal. The courts have ruled it is. And this cop was just spewing lies comparing everything he could think of to the bridges and tunnels.

Fact is one is ALLOWED to take picures of subway property and any other city property. Both the DOT supervisor and police officer deserve to be reprimanded here.

I'm not necessarily in favor of fighting with supervisors or police officers but what's legal is legal and what's not is not. The two should never be confused.

I recognized the "bochur's" voice. As far as I know he not a bochur anymore.!!!

Unfortunately, we are getting this all over - all in the name of the Patriot Act. People must put their foot down, but do it gently.

Rule No. 1: Report on the news; don't create the news.

Chaptzem, you shouldn’t put up videos with your own voice in it.
