Equal opportunity renter - with some tiny exceptions

From The Tzeitung

Comments:
Based on a reverse search of the phone number, I think this is the guy on 55th Street with a big anti-eruv banner hanging on his house....

english translation anyone?

Personally the guys sounds a bit radical but where does he mention about an equal oppurtunity renter?

Here is the translation.

BORO PARK

For charedi family.Tied down Tichel.going swimming is prohibited. carrying inside eruv is prohibited, even for small children. we take section 8. If interested call and leave message at 718-851-5798

Love it, alle chumros but we're happy to take government money...

12;01 YOU COULDNT OF SAID IT BETTER GOOD GOIN

THIS GUY IS FOR SURE A HASSIDIC PALISTINIAN. I KNOW THEIR WAY OF THINKING...
HE PROBABLY VISITED AND KISSED THE PRESIDENT OF IRAN.
A HASSIDIC JEW HATER.
BY THE WAY HE IS ALSO AGAINST THE SCHOOL DISTRICT IN KIRYAS JOEL, WHICH HELPS HUNDREDS OF CHILDREN WITH MINOR OR MAJOY DISSABILITIES.
I KNOW THE KIND.....

Shame on them and every able bodied yid taking giv't money!!

I bet the landlord looked at the ad on the right for a luxery summer rental in South Fallsburg for inspiration and just rejected everything they were offering, such as:

NO swimming pool
NO tie-dyed tichels
NO eruv

now just a minute here this is the same number i called to get tickets for the big event a few weeks ago.

What in tarnation is wrong with a person wanting to neighbors of his own kind. Even the racial discrimination freaks tell you that a person can rent to people he is comfortable with in his home.

Here are Chareidim, who are not comfortable with some actions. Why should they be deprived of the opportunity to rent to people they ARE comfortable with?

If I want to rent to red-haired men only, that should be my prerogative. This discrimination foolishness has gone way too far. Why would anyone want to live among people who don't want them there?

If they don't want to see women's hair, or sheitlech, that is their right. Why should be deprive them of their religious rights?

Are the rest of the frum people going to now persecute people who follow stronger chumros than we do? That is just as bad as the non-frum people persecuting us for being frum.

I say, Good for them. Let they do things their way!

lets run this ad in the carribean paper and get him a good muslim tenant. I am sure if he accepts section 8 he cant discriminate.

be aware:
Its illegal for any shop that accepts credit cards to refuse one due to a 'minimum'
even if u r buying a package of gum, and the store advertises they accept visa,amex/mc, they must accept the card for the charge.
The shopkeepers should be informed by all of us that we know of this law..

If the landlord takes government money, it means he can't discriminate. that means goyim, jews of any kind, etc. This is America, it's a free country. These people take advantage of all that the government offers, and then want to dictate things their way. Shame on them!

6:25 PM - can you point me in the direction of this rule regarding credit cards? i am curious. i want to print it out for the next time i go shopping!

To Anonymous of 6:16pm..

Actually, no it isn't legal for this person to discriminate when he is taking public (aka government) money to rent to someone. Otherwise you'd be correct.

Anon 8:46:

Here is the source if the Visa law about minimum credit card purchases:

Minimum Purchase

Visa merchants are not permitted to establish minimum transaction amounts, even on sale items. They also are not permitted to charge you a fee when you want to use your Visa card.

If you run into a problem like this with a merchant, please notify the financial institution that issued you your Visa card. These institutions have access to the appropriate Visa rules and regulations and can help you document and file your complaint. You'll find their address and/or telephone number on your Visa statement. Their telephone number may also appear on the back of the card itself.

There is no such 'LAW'.

It is forbidden under the contract between the merchant and Visa/MC but the customer has no standing in the matter and can stand on his head screaming all day.

Visa/MC can and often will end the store's ability to accept credit cards.

The reason most merchants hate taking plastic for small purchases is that besides paying 1% - 2% they also pay a per-swipe charge of 25 to 35 cents. So when you buy a five dollar lunch special on which the owner already has a low profit margin he loses up to 45 cents to the credit card company and even more if you pay with Amex, Discover or one of the 'program' cards. These are the cards that give you 1% back or free electronincs, miles, etc.

Who do you thiunk foots the bill for all thast 'free' stuff?

Thats right, the retailer pays for miles and points that you never end up redeeming so an amazing amount of extra money ends up in the pockets of the credit card companies.

I don' think it's "illegal" for the merchant to have a minimum puechase requirement. It is merely a violation of the terms of the agreement between the credit card company and the merchant. A breach of the agreement would entitle the credit card company to remedies, which I would think includes a revocation of the merchant's authorization to accept credit cards.

oy veys mir mon vaab hut faloirin ihr tichel ses nisht gevain tzigabindin. ken ich noch oltz dingin. biter helft mir

the ad is illegal. if the landlord takes government money, s/he can't discriminate.

ugh.

It is illegal to discriminate in housing and public accommodations on basis of color, race, religion, creed or national origin. Period. No regard to whether or not there's government money. In NYC, it's also illegal to discriminate on basis or "sexual orientation", but there's an exemption for small buildings.
