Hamodia Newspaper deserts Crown Heights community

In an astounding show of contempt for their fellow Jew, the Hamodia Newspaper almost completely ignored the recent Black-on-Jew violence in Crown Heights. Aside for an extremely bland, partly recycled 400 word article there is nothing else the paper has done to express concern or solidarity with their brethren that live only a couple of blocks away. It is exactly this attitude of "We don't care as long as it's not us", that put Crown Heights in the situation that it is now and it is that attitude that continues to plague Judaism in general.

Not long ago, Crown Heights was a prospering completely Yiddishe neighborhood, with Bobov, Viznitz, Skulen and others living there. When only a couple of outsiders started moving in and taking over the neighborhood everyone said that it wasn't their problem. They all then packed up and left, leaving the neighborhood to be ravished by the worst elements thereby leaving their own brothers all alone to fend for themselves.

Now, in a time when we need to stick together the most and help each other, the Hamodia has chosen the easy way out and refuses to get involved. When you have the power to change things and you just sit idly by, doing nothing to make it better, you are then effectively making it worse. It is time the Hamodia did something to make it better.

Comments:
Hey come on..... I live in Belgium and get the UK version of the english Hamodia. Even there they had a big article on the front page. (Which is usually reserved for hot UK or Israeli politics.)

Im sorry to say but manny jewish newspapers (like "Der Blatt" worte their policy in this weeks edition) has also ignored pretty much and so didnt they report stories like "Rebushkin". All because of the same policy: Anything that would involve a yidishe neshoma not obeying the law or getting into troubel(even so there are some fellow jews sitting nebech in Jail which they shall all be out ASAP) they wont write about it....

This is nothing new for Hamodia. Women don't exist in their publication, so why would Jews from Crown Heights? This is why I turn to The Jewish Press and Jewish Week for more of a balanced view on reporting.

As a person who both lives in Crown Heights and gets the Daily Hamodia I am frankly preety happy they stayed away from the story...There are alot of stupid politics involved in it and some of it reflects poorly on our community. True they could have portrayed nice respectful articles but in the long run I think its better that they avoided the story for the most part.

HAMODIA DID THE RIGHT THING. THE LESS SAID IN PUBLIC, THE BETTER OFF WE ALL ARE.

its so not true !!!
hamodia realy put it nicely in as mich as possible
also it made it in the isrealu Hamodia on the front page !!!!

The beat reporter for Hamodia is Hershel Rosenbluh, email him at c2c@hamodia.com or neveler@gmail.com with you protest!!!

Why leave out the real truth?
For those who believe their dead Rebbe OB"M is alive and their crowned Moshiach, help isn't coming from the Orthodox. Try closer religions that beleive in "arising" from the grave!!!

my email is hrosenbluh@hamodia.com, not the two mentioned here and there were 3/4 stories about Crown heights. Thanks for bothering to actually check the facts.

What about Yated, any reason you fail to mention that they wrote NOTHING????

do you mean the robbery that the 2 people were caught, or the assault from someone from the neighborhood safety squad that also maced someone .

You say that Crown Heights was a prospering completely Yiddishe community then all the yidden left. Who forced Lubavitchers to stay? I say they're comfortable in that environment. They're for sure loving all the attention.

To me Hamdia is like Watchtower or Amdterdam News

I once wrote to hamodia aasking why they didnt put in a nice article about the rebbe around his yahrtzeit as they do for so many others. their response was pretty stupid..something like no one ever sent them one!
I wonder how many chabad houses the big shots at hamodia have taken advantage of during their global travels!

do we have to always keep running? the homes in CH are lovely...and why should we run?

Reading the comments on blogs like this really depresses me. I don't mean to criticize anyone in particular but lets all work on improving ourselves and do more mitzvahs instead of getting caught up in criticizing each other or different groups. We need achdus -
let the one above do the judging.

Maybe it was not the negative elements the writer was thinking about who pushed all the rest of the Chassidim away.

Maybe it was the group who stayed, which was moving steadily towards insanity, and began calling all the rest of the Chassidim names, and began insisting that theirs was the only true chassidus.

Maybe it was that group which caused the rest of the Chassidim and other frum Yidden to run.

Who wants to live among people who stop you in the street and try to get you to accept their rebbe as Moshiach and your personal savior.

I would not have stated either.

is rosenbluh a chabatzker?

To those who asked why did other kreizen leave CH and only Lubavitch staid.
First of all this happened decades ago and had nothing to do with Moshiach or not. It had everything to do with the riots and the "elements" who moved in.
Why did Lubavitch stay? Because halocha has a problem with abandoning shuls and yeshivas etc. into the hands of einam Yehudim.
For the one who asked about a religion who believes in Rising from the grave... If I'm not mistaken it is one of the 13 Ikrim of Yiddishkeit, there are stories in Tanach about it and we know that the smallest Tana was able to perform it. But then again this blog is great for people to display how little they know of Yiddishkeit and historical facts. To the extent of being able to say that Yiddishkeit doesnt believe in Tchiyas Hameisim. Do you daven Shmonei Esrei ever?!
Umesaymim betov.

I'm more concerned with why Hamodia has ignored the Rabashkin scandal, true true chilul Hashem.

I receive the daily Hamodia - am Lubavitch affiliated though not living in Crown Heights. I find that Hamodia gives articles and pictures in amounts fair and equal to other 'sects/groups/affiliations' (whichever expression you choose to be politically correct)

It's just that Hamodia in general does not print articles that are lashon hara - can you imagine that!!??
