Brooklyn Teacher Accused of Trying to Arrange Sex With Girl, 14
A 27-year-old Brooklyn science teacher has been accused of trying to arrange a meeting for sex with someone he thought was a 14-year-old girl.
Adam Kent, who teaches sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders at an all-boys yeshiva in Midwood, was arrested Tuesday when he went to the location where he thought he was meeting a girl he had been instant messaging.
In reality, he had been corresponding with an undercover NYPD detective.
Believing the detective was a young girl, Kent allegedly sent sexual messages and invited her to meet him for "sexual activity in Queens," prosecutors said.
He also is accused of indicating that he wanted to make a video of them having sex.
Kent is being charged with attempted use of a child in a sexual performance, second-degree attempted criminal sexual act, second-degree attempted rape and other charges.
He faces up to seven years in prison if convicted.
The Queens District Attorney did not immediately know whether he had a lawyer.
