Anti-internet asifah big on musser, small on mentchlichkeit

The anti-internet asifah that took place tonight at Ateres Chaya in Boro-Park, put a great emphasis on doling out musser to the attendees about their vile and evil ways with using the internet. Ironically, the asifah showed how little middos they had and how little value they put on others lives. In an effort to draw an enormous crowd, the asifah was broadcast over loud-speaker outside the hall on the street into late hours in the night. Each and every word uttered over the mike was blasted across town, waking babies, keeping them up and disturbing the peace and quiet of their parents. Maybe an example of ehrlichkeit and mentchlichkeit from the asifah organizers would have proven to be a more effective tool to accomplish their goal.

Comments:
While the internet is VERY dangerous for children and adolescents , and somewhat for adults, it is here to stay. It is like the phone (and more so) 100 years ago.

Many Chassidishe Rebbes & Litvishe Leaders are afraid they will lose control They prohibit reading secular newspapers, Radio/TV, etc and of course forget about getting the truth -- if if goes against any of their sacred cows , Hamodia, Yated, Jewish Press, Yiddish papers etc. -- so the average person WAS in the dark, until the internet ushered in the age of Jewish information.

Now Ugly truths are coming out and there is nowhere to hide the genayvahs/gezaylas etc. and they can't stand it. People don't think they are capable of anything supernatural. And that means loss of money, power, and prestige. Out with the internet!!

Think Mullahs of Iran....differnet hat & head same motivation...

Please don't play down the severity of these asifas.

Isn't it amazing how these rabbis carry on about the internet, even if they are correct, though the first comment is also correct.

But when it comes to the apikorsishe shmadding murderous Zionist regime, they are SILENT! As it is written: "But the private altars they did not remove." The idol of Micha continued to stand. For that reason alone the dynasties of Achav and Yehu were destroyed. So what should we say about this Agudistishe stuff?!

I agree 100% with the article about the asifa. It was disgusting to have to keep all of Boro Park up like that. Ateres Chaya should not be in a residential area. It isn't right. But no one cares.

I think the first comment is unacceptable.
True it's here to stay & everybody agrees it's dangereous to our society I think the solution is to make sure our children & yungeleit & girls & veblich have sipuk Hachaim (satisfaction) from their life then they won't need the internet for sippuk.
How about a Hockey game between Satmar & Lubavitch, Belz vs Viznitz, Brisk vs Lakewood or baseball we will invite the Roshei Yeshivos or Rebbes to drop the puck or throw the first pitch.

NONSENSE.

get a life chaptzem!

anyone looking for 'trouble' will find it with the internet or without. 'trouble' is not only since we have the world and all that in it at our fingertips.
and, besides...those that make the most noise are usually the most suspect.

Just shows that non of you above commentors attended last nights Asifa! The Asifa focused on many issues and was not at all demanding radical solutions. The Rabbonim were very understanding that the internet is here to stay and were there only to make us aware and re-inforce what we all know and in my personal opinion they did a great job yesterday in getting the message across. The loudspeakers were not there to attract a crowd only to let the overwhelming crowd standing on 54th street hear the droshos as there was no room indoors! Ashreinu Klal Yisroel! and to all of you above whatever disagreements you have with any Gadol please! do not let that make you lose your "kavod Hatorah! even if he's not the greatest in Hachsheirum or has a different view then your honour on any given topic is not reason enough to not honor him with the respect a Rebbe/Rosh Yeshivah deserves! Please do not slander our/your Gedolim - you will only grow to regret it! Let our childeren see and know that we respect any Rebbe/Rosh Yeshivah or any person for that matter.

Instead of the Rabonim and Roshei Yeshivos being busy with the internet, why are they not being busy with "No Child Left Behind!" If some of these children, and I mean good children, were accepted into yeshivos or perhaps not thrown out for no good reason, perhaps they would not look for the internet for some Sipuk Hachaim. This IS the job of the Rabonim and Roshei Yeshivos. Think about the future Dor before it is too late ! Make sure each child has a place on this earth and does not have to find his place on the internet !

The commentor AM (and his ilk) is a reason enough to ban the internet. It gives him the opportunity to release his venom into the open. It is not only bad for Jews in general it is bad for him. It also provides a platform for his idle time.
He is either in need of healthier outlets or is vicous. In either case without the internet he would be a lot better off.

To anon 12:14,
Whether or not the loudspeakers were there for this reason or that, until what time were they broadcasting it?

b"h boro park looks more and more like gaza, we have loud speakers all day we have 500 families in 1 block, if you see a hole you know a 10 floor apartment will go up, the kids are on the street all day, living like animals , for 2,600 a month you get a nice hole and for 1,000,000 you get a doll house/

BEST COMMENT!!!

By all these "Rabbis" ranting about it, they are just making people aware of the "Forbidden" Aspect of the Internet. Then there is a bigger "Yayzter Hureh".
