Dicci break-in UPDATE - Break-in most probably the work of zealots

New information about the break-in at the Dicci store, which is owned by the same people as G&G Clothing, seems to point to the fact that it was not a burglary. Nothing was stolen from the store, only the glass door was shattered and a mannequin was knocked over. The break-in seems to rather be the work of Kanoyim who want to dictate to everyone how to live their life whether or not it is a true Torah matter. The irony of it all is that most of the Dicci clientele are Chasidishe women. Now if their husbands feel that it is wrong to have such a store on the avenue, rather than shatter the store's windows, why don't they just tell their wives not to shop there, that will force the store to close down. I guess it just goes to show how much influence Chasidim have over their wives' and families' Hashkafa and how much influence Rebbes have over their Chasidim, yet they want to control everyone else.

Comments:
Since chasidim don't have control over their wives please inform us how we can achieve this!

Ver S'Hut d'Mayah, Der Hut de Daya!

Many women make more money than the men these days, and women are better educated.

If the break-in was indeed done by a chassidic "zealot", he would not allow his wife to shop there and she would probably be convinced enough from her husband not to support such a store.

This article and the previous one portrays the hatred you have on chassidim.

I wouldn't be surprised that it's the work of PETA or other Animal Rights groups.

i don't know where you get your info from but it was due to the 50 mph winds we had yesterday. If you think hashem sent the message then fine; but thats what happened.
Here is another message for you. instead of the silly things you write about; why not photograph how many meter maids we have walking 13 ave. i'm willing to bet it's twice as much as another boro has on it's main streets. what deficit! release the meter maids on 13 ave and by days end we'll have a surplus. enjoy your wonderful day.

Not that im Part of the Kanoyim but I think these store owners were asking for it for opening such a store in a community like ours, it's just not our cultur.

A store like that would have surveillance cameras which would hopefully solve this debate in a minute.

We are leining this week Parshas Mispotim which talks about being mazik another person and having to pay

I read some the comments above with great sadness. People talk about "these store owners were asking for it for opening such a store in a community like ours, it's just not our cultur" (sic).

So, in other words, if a goy opened a pork store, would you advocate burning it down?

We do not own the world. Hashem does, and guess what? There are a lot more goyim than us, no matter some people in Boro Park dream in their foolish heads. People have the right to open businesses. If you don't like the merchandise, don't shop there. It's a free country. When you advocate doing these illegal actions, is that that far from burning abortion clinics, or buring books, like was done to the seforim of the Rambam?

WAKE UP PEOPLE!

LIVE AND LET LIVE, OR ELSE WE WILL HAVE REAL PROBLEMS!

Chassidiche women need to stop thinking that expensive suits, shoes, and fur coats make them better than what they really are...

they are really women with lack of higher education, with no job who leech off of their husbands.

50 MPH winds did that?
Big DUMMY(manequen) you!
Come off it, already.

Im sure they know who did this. They have security cameras all over the store. I don't understand what's wrong with this store. Why would someone want to ruin their business? The clothing is not oisgelassen and the prices are normal!!!!

To all the above commenter’s,

ABI GERET!

I personally checked the store out before it opened and can clearly say this store has typical chasidishe ladies clothing nothing deserving of an outcry basically it seems they are focusing on elegant dark ladies wear nothing rational or untzniusdik! So bashing them here is simply inappropriate! Grow up!

I disagree with you on 2 things,
first, this incident is not unfortunate it's actually great that someone is finally taking action, 2nd you're asking questions on chaptzem like if he would've been some smart person that thinks twice before posting something. I bet his brain is smaller then a poppy seed.

If the complaint is high prices, Lew, Ultra Chic, Final Touch and It's you are all much more expensive!

If the complaint is that the store is too fancy, Weiss' Bakery and Grand Sterling are just as fancy!

I heard there is flying around papers against this store all over 13th Ave.
good luck with these fanatics.

Wow! Are you implying that Chassidic women are less worth, impressive or special than the more secularized women? Our women are the kindest, finest and most precious in the entire world! They are most certainly not perfect nor should they be. It is the human condition to posses flaws and it is the human responsibility to perfect them.
I have been around the most intellectual women in the world. And to use a simple verb, they are full of “crap.” My wife, with a basic high school education is smarter, brighter, prettier, kinder, etcetera than any of those “highly intellectual women.” They live a superficial meaningless life totality consumed with their appearance and how to empress every man on the universe besides their own husbands.
Hold your head high and be proud of your “simple” but precious wife.

So why didn't they also smash the shtreimel macher's window?

Maybe the Vaad Hatznius also broke the window on the corner display by Ben Barber on 48th St. & 13th ave? or does the wind situation explain it a bit more?

Please let this not be the work of the Spinka Rebbe again.

January 31, 2008 5:01 PM- must have been written by a WOMAN! Sounds too good to be true.

the loser who wrote this control thing is just showing how close minded he is. btw his wife probably controls him!!!

BTW, I am not a woman. I am a Chassidishe yingerman.
And i disagree with you that "it is to good to be true" perhaps it does take a lot of work but it surely is achievable.

I don't agree that it is the work of PETA or any Animal Rights Group. To my knowledge the store doesn't even sell fur coats at all. They only sell very pretty wool coats and storm coats with and without fur collars and cuffs. I bought two coats. One wool coat without fur and one storm jacket with a fur collar. Their prices are very fair too.
